Manage eBooks with Sony Reader Software 

If you own a Sony Reader PRS-T1 and you would like to download eBooks onto your eReader, you need to install the new Reader Software from Sony. All older software versions (Sony Reader Library and Adobe Digital Editions) are no longer compatible. DRM-protected eBooks can't be downloaded directly to the device via WiFi at the moment.

Follow the steps outlined below to install the new Reader Software:

1. Get an Adobe ID

As a rule, eBooks (ePub and PDF) are protected with a copy protection system – the Digital Rights Management DRM.  The most common version is the Adobe version that is also used to protect eBooks purchased at books.ch. When you wish to download an eBook onto your eReader for the first time, you must create an Adobe ID.

Click on "Create an Adobe Account" and fill in all the mandatory fields (marked with *), then click on "Continue" to finish the account registration. Should you already have an account with Adobe, we recommend using that.

Make a note of your user name (usually your Adobe ID is your email address) and your password and move on to step 2.

2. Download Sony Reader Software

Turn on your Sony Reader PRS-T1 and follow the prompts to install your basic settings. (Important: when selecting country, choose "Other".)
Now connect your Sony Reader PRS-T1 to your computer using the USB cable supplied. Press the icon "data transmission mode" on your Reader. If the installation assistant does not open automatically, download the appropriate software manually from the following link:

3. Transferring eBooks onto your Sony Reader

Now visit www.books.ch. There are more than 150'000 books available for downloading under "eBooks". Have fun browsing through them.
Once you've bought an ebook, your purchased downloads can be viewed in your customer account (My Account/My Downloads). Click on the icon "Download" next to the eBook of your choice to transfer the eBook onto your Sony Reader. Confirm your choice by clicking on "Open" and your eBook will be automatically downloaded into the library of your Sony Reader Software:

Find the eBooks you want in our eBook shop on books.ch.

The downloaded eBook is now in your library.

Downloaded eBooks are ready to be read in your Sony Reader library.

 

 

Now click on the eBook in your library that you would like to transfer. The first time you do this, a window will pop up in which you have to enter your Adobe ID to authorize access.
 
Then click on "Reader" and "Synchronize". Now you can synchronize the data of your choice (eBooks, photos, music etc.)

 

Copy your ebooks from you Sony Reader Software to your ereader by clicking "Reader - Synchronize".

Sony regularly updates its Reader Software. They ensure the software's smooth functioning. Please download these updates regularly. Should you encounter problems with your Sony software, these updates are likely to solve them.
