Manage eBooks with Sony Reader Software

 

Step 1: Create free AdobeID

To protect ebooks from illegal distribution, they can only be opened and copied to your "Sony Reader PRS-T1" using the software "Reader for PC/Mac". To install this program, you must first create an account with Adobe (Adobe ID).

Should you already possess an Adobe ID, proceed to step 2.

 

1. Go to www.adobe.com and click "Sign in".
    
2. Create your Adobe ID by entering your information into the required fields. Please remember your username and password - you will need these later on.

Step 2: Installing "Sony Reader Software"

 

1. Turn on your "Sony Reader PRS-T1" and enter the default settings. (Important: choose "Other" in the country selection).
   Now connect your "Sony Reader PRS-T1" to your PC/Mac using the provided USB cable and click on "Data Transfer Mode" on your Sony reader.
    
2. The program "Reader for PC/Mac" will launch automatically. Follow the setup wizard on your computer and authorize your ereader by entering your AdobeID and password.

Should the setup wizard not launch automatically, please download the "Sony Reader Software" manually from the following link: www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/PRS-T1/downloads.

Step 3: Buying and downloading ebooks

 

Please go to www.books.ch and log in to your account. (New clients must create an account)

 

Browse through our large selection of throusands of ebooks and purchase one.

 

1. Click on "My Account" at the top right of any page on books.ch.
    
2. Clicking on "My Downloads" will display all your purchased downloads (ebooks and audiobooks).

Step 4: Copying ebooks using "Sony Reader Software"

 

1. Click on the "Download" button next to the ebook you wish to download and copy to your Sony ereader.
    
2. Select "Open with" in the download pop-up and choose "Reader for PC/Mac" as the program to open the file. The ebook will now be downloaded and automatically added to your ebook library.

Repeat this for all ebooks you would like to copy to your ereader.

Step 5: Synchronising ebooks

 

Open the program "Reader for PC/Mac" and connect your "Sony Reader PRS-T1" using an USB cable. Click on "Data Transfer Mode" on the screen of your ereader.

1. Mark the categories you wish to synchronise.
    
2. Click on "Sync now". Please disconnect the USB cable from your PC/Mac and ereader only after the synchronisation is completed. After a short loading process on your ereader, your newly copied ebooks will be displayed in the library of your ereader.
